The Chevrolet Malibu is a mid-size car that started as a trim level of the Chevrolet Chevelle and became its own model in 1978. The Chevelle was originally rear-wheel drive, and was then re-launched in 1997 with front-wheel drive. The ninth (and current) generation has even evolved into a hybrid model.
