Electric Range/Performance

The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the EV of choice for many auto consumers throughout Canada. This vehicle will provide sportscar-like acceleration thanks to its hybrid components. Its electric powertrain will go from 0-100 kph in only 5.1 seconds. This four-door cruiser uses its all-electric
powertrain to deliver a driving range of up to 488 km. Under the hood sits a magnet-synchronous electric motor that produces as much as 239 kW of horsepower and 604 Nm of torque. The automobile's lithium-ion battery will generate up to 77.4 kWh.

If that's too much power to properly handle, then auto consumers can opt for a less powerful variant. Hyundai has also constructed a 125-kW powertrain that produces as much as 349 Nm of torque. The battery capacity here is listed at 58.0 kWh. On-demand acceleration is still possible as the new Ioniq 5 will blast from 0-100 kph in an estimated 8.5 seconds. Drivers can expect a smooth delivery of power with fewer jerky movements.

Charging times will vary per model choice. The brand's Level 2 charger will take at least 6 hours and 43 minutes to fully charge, which is available for the Preferred LR model. It generally takes 46 minutes to fully charge the Essential and Preferred models. All models can be upgraded with a Level 3 charger, which takes just 17 minutes to charge. Hyundai has equipped this road-going machine with a Battery Temperature Management System as it pre-warms the battery while minimizing range loss during cold temperatures.

The same thing happens when approaching pedestrians or cyclists. Junction-Turning Detection activates when making a left turn at intersections, which helps with avoiding collisions. Crossing Detection is another key safety feature as it detects traffic from either the left or right side.

The new Ioniq 5 goes even further by offering Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist. The advanced technology will alert the driver when another automobile enters your blind zones.
