What originally began as a concept car has quickly surpassed everything that was promised during its first announcement. The Chevrolet Bolt EV has made large strides in the right direction for the electric vehicle industry, we take a look at what it has to offer.
Executive Assistant
The Chevrolet Bolt EV Initially began as an announcement at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show as a concept car, GM’s CEO Mary Barra said “Chevrolet believes electrification is a pillar of future transportation and needs to be affordable for a wider segment of customers.”
The development of the vehicle, more than a concept car, was highly secretive and slow-going for GM's engineers and designers. The car was expected to have a range of 300 kilometers, accelerate from 0-60 in less than 8 seconds, and cost between $30,000 and $35,000. In May 2016, it was approved for production by GM executives, with the first units expected to roll off the line in October 2016. In January 2017, GM began production on the car, and by the end of the month, the first units hit showrooms.
The car was a sold-out success in its first year on the market, with more than 25,000 units sold by the end of 2017. This success isn't expected to slow down anytime soon either, as the 2022 model is here to usher in the next generation of electric vehicles.
With a new, slimmer design, you can have fun while driving around, knowing that other drivers are looking at your excellent vehicle. As GM put it, "The Concept represents an important milestone in our history of innovation and evolving transportation."With a range of up to 417 kilometers on one charge, there's no need to worry about where your next charge will come from. It weighs in at 1,543 lbs. This means you can expect excellent handling capabilities when driving around (even in our harsh Canadian snowy winters). With a mix of sports car design and SUV practicality, this vehicle is sure to turn heads no matter where you are in the city.
It is both sporty and practical. The Chevrolet Bolt EV features a chiseled and sleek design while maintaining the body of an SUV. It represents the change in the future of electric vehicles. It is outfitted with a complete chrome exterior, making it stand out from other cars on the road. Not only does this add to its sporty look, but it also makes it easier to clean off dirt and debris after a long day of driving around. While most SUVs come with alloy wheels, Chevy has made sure this new concept model comes with 10-spoke aluminum wheels, so they don't take away from the car's overall look.
The interior of the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt is a lot more spacious than you would initially believe at first glance. The backseat is fully capable of comfortably seating 2 adults with 17 cubic feet of space, and once the back seat is folded down it opens up to 57 Cubic feet. It has a stylish dashboard that surrounds the driver with digital displays with an 8.0 Inch digital gauge cluster, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system with a 10.2" diagonal HD color touch-screen, and the shifter replaced with a simple pull tab button system. The 2022 Bolt EV will come stock with not just front-heated seating but also a heated steering wheel that is styled to look more like a racing wheel with its flat bottom. Overall, the Bolt EV comes with several factory-installed options that let you personalize the car to fit your style.
This engine is equipped with a 66-kWh battery that is capable of level 2 (240 Volt) charging a maximum of 62km range every hour and level 3 charging (480 Volt) of 160km in just 30 minutes. With its projected long-distance charge of 417 kilometres, you should fully expect to be able to get through your daily commute as well as be able to take this multi-functional vehicle anywhere on road trips and not have to stop throughout. I believe as the advancements in electric range keep getting expanded in the EV market, we will see the reservations of people change for the better. Expect something pretty powerful in advancements in the future from Chevrolet!
