The 2022 Lexus RX is a significant vehicle in today's automotive industry. The original Lexus was among the first SUV models made by employing a unique body design on a car chassis when it debuted for the 1999 model year. In simpler words, this car was the first crossover model.

In 2021, the Lexus SUV will participate in the competitive midsize luxury SUV sector and will top the list as Lexus' best-selling vehicle. The RX, currently in its 4th generation, is available in two- or three-row body types, with a hybrid powertrain as an option.

What’s new for the 2022 Lexus RX Series?

By 2022, the Lexus SUV will receive just modest updates. One of them is the front fog lights which are now a standalone option. A new trio of colors is added to the vehicle's color options. The new additions include Grecian Water, Iridium, and Cloudburst Gray.

In addition, the Black Line special edition models will be back in 2022, with a total of 2500 units available. They all come with black wheels, darker exterior detail, and a Zero Halliburton baggage set.

All in all, from the black bars that block out a portion of the rear roof pillars to contribute to the canopy-style effect to the prominent hourglass grille at the front side, the Lexus SUV retains its aggressive body. Between the front passenger and the driver, the cabin wraps around them, creating a wall of metallic rim and controls.

There is a great deal happening here, both in the interior and exterior, and it is fascinating. However, the design and features in the car do not hold together as well as similar ideas in competing crossovers.

2022 Lexus RX Performance

The 2022 Lexus RX is not one of those dynamic and pleasant-to-drive vehicles. Despite its rugged design and optional F Sport trim, it is a gigantic softie with a smooth ride and two fuel-saving powertrain options.

According to our testing results, the base engine is a 3.5-liter V-6, but you can upgrade to a hybrid powertrain with 308 horsepower and 50km/h on the highway. The regular RX is a two-row and five-seater automobile, but a long-wheelbase L variant can seat up to seven people in three rows.

Buyers can choose between two types of RX. The RX350 models have a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 295 horsepower, while the RX450h has the V-6 and two additional electric motors and 308 horsepower. Our RX350 test vehicle had an all-wheel-drive function and ran from zero to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds, which was sufficient but sluggish for the category.

The RX450h is among the few hybrids in the market, but it took longer than usual to reach 50 km / h from a standstill. Luckily, the RX excels at providing a smooth and comfortable ride and effectively cushioning uneven patches of road. In turn, the Lexus SUV is an incredible long-distance commuter since the cabin is peaceful and well insulated from the road.

2022 Lexus RX Technology

As mentioned earlier, the RX has a comfortable interior with a lot of technology and high-end finishes that fit this class of small luxury SUVs. According to several expert reviews, the Enform infotainment system can be challenging to use while driving.

The RX comes with many modern and popular features in the automobile market. These features include Android Auto, onboard Wi-Fi, and Apple CarPlay. The standard infotainment touchscreen is 8.0 inches. On the other hand, the 12.3-inch display features in-dash GPS, a DVD/CD player, easy use of the Enform Application Suite, and a 12-speaker audio system (a nine-speaker arrangement is usual).

From the infotainment system, this assortment of applications enables limited internet access and access to emergency help. A Mark Levinson premium audio system with 15 speakers, dual 11.6-inch monitors, and a rear-seat entertainment system with wireless headphones is also available.

Safety

The available standard driver-assistance features increase the appeal of the RX series. But, a more comprehensive and advanced set of standard driver aids could propel it higher in this category. The following are the critical safety features of the Lexus SUV:

• Standard adaptive cruise control

• Standard lane-departure warning feature with lane-keeping assistant

• Standard automated emergency braking

• Standard blind-spot monitoring control

Interior

The inside of the RX might be described in two words: "ultra-soft." The smooth leather upholstery creates a premium touch, and the entire arrangement oozes luxury and elegance. The RX's interior, however, could use a facelift.

The standard RX has a basic 8-inch touchscreen that sits in the middle of the dash and is operated using a remote touchpad. In contrast, its German rivals use augmented reality infotainment technology and digital driver screens.

The RX's interior spaciousness and cargo volume, on the other hand, are unrivaled, with the Lexus SUV easily seating up to five passengers. If you need to transport up to seven people in a 2022 Lexus RX, the "L" variants are a better option as they have a second-row captain's seat and a power-folding third row.

Exterior

Over the years, Lexus has proved to be a stylish and modern car, and the 2022 Lexus RX series is no different. Its exterior is aerodynamic and sleek in design, making it appealing and practical to most car enthusiasts. Its body consists of premium quality construction material that will last for years.
