The Mclaren F1 was like nothing anyone had ever seen when it first came out: faster, lighter and unique. The F1 was the fastest car in the world for nearly 15 years, all thanks to Gordon Murray. He was an F1 designer from 1973 to 1989 for Brabham and McLaren, who then moved on to design road going supercars for McLaren. Not only did Murray give us the F1, but he is also responsible for the legendary SLR McLaren. Now, nearly 30 years later, we are getting something special from Gordon Murray once again. An all British, fully bespoke hypercar that has been perfected in every little detail to cater to the purist. No touchscreens, no turbos, manual gearbox, and the three seat layout that we loved in the F1.
This is the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50, it is truly something special. Cosworth has built the engine from scratch, revving up to 12,100rpm in 0.3 seconds, the output of 654 HP, and the lightest V12 ever made. Gordon Murray Automotive calls it the “best V-12 sound ever”.
